Hannah,
lives in London and raised the money by being sponsored to run
in the very first half marathon - 13
gruelling miles - to be held in London’s Royal Parks. The half marathon
on
October 12 was organised by the Royal Parks Foundation and attracted
12,500
runners. Hannah chose Helping Hands as the charity she wanted to
support with
the money pledged to her by many friends and relatives for running in
the
event.
Tens of thousands of
people watched the runners taking part in the
event, which took the participants through St James’s Park, Green Park,
Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. The half marathon was conducted in
bright
sunshine and Hannah was one of the thousands who completed the event.
Hannah, who works as a
media officer for a big London company, thanked
everyone who made a donation and said: “You'll be pleased to know that
I
completed the half-marathon in just over two hours - 2:06 to be precise
- which
I'm very happy about. It turned out to be a beautiful day in London,
with Hyde
Park at its autumnal best, and the atmosphere was amazing. Anyway, I'm
sure
Helping Hands Club will be very grateful to receive your donations -
many
thanks to everyone who sponsored me for your generosity.”
Hannah, who was brought
up with Becky and their other sister Amy in
Leamington, said she ran in the event to raise awareness and vital
funds for
Helping Hands.
“This year also happens
to be Helping Hands' 30th anniversary so
to celebrate the occasion I thought I'd give them a helping hand of my
own by
running the half marathon.”
One of Hannah’s close
friends
from Leamington, Sarah McCarten, also ran in the event to give Hannah
some
support and encouragement. And she was also supported from the
sidelines by her
sister Amy, her mum and dad Jean and Craig Seton, her cousin Sophie and
her
boyfriend David. Sarah’s mum, Sharron, also travelled from Leamington
to watch
Hannah and Sarah finish the event.
